Identifying cancer early greatly increases both the effectiveness of treatment and the likelihood of survival.

The Early Lung Cancer Screening Task Force focuses on researching the steps and resources necessary to increase early lung cancer screening in Hawaii.

Lung & bronchus cancer is the leading cause of cancer mortality in both men and women in Hawaii. The USPSTF recommends yearly lung cancer screening with low-dose computed tomography for individuals who have a history of heavy smoking, and smoke now or have quit with in the past 15 years, and are between 55 and 80 years old.
